4 Months of KobeWobe

Can I just say that Kobe is perfect? I sure can. And I always do. I'm so in love with this kid. I have just minutes when I feel I need a break but then he smiles and I melt. Or when I am at work, I just crave that smile and kissing those cheeks! I am not a morning person but it sure does make my mornings pleasant seeing that little face.

Mr. Kobe is 15lbs (50th percentile) and 25.5" (75th percentile). He is growing and changing every day. He is following all the rules for a 4 month old: drooling, grabbing, bringing everything to his mouth, giggling, attempting to roll over, adding more sounds to his vocabulary, eating more, sleeping longer, and just being cute! We love having him in our home. He brings so much love and entertainment to our little family. He sure does love his daddy. Lane has been spending some one-on-one time with little man while I'm at work at nights. They've become buddies. Kobe takes the bottle really well, and we started him on a little bit of cereal; which he eats like a champ. So far he has eaten one little cup of sweet potatoes, and applesauce. Books say 4-6 months start in on cereal. We only started because I'm off and on with how much milk I produce, and going back to work I was stressing about getting enough for him since he wouldn't eat supplemented formula. He just has a little bit of cereal before bed along with his milk meal, and this past week I gave him a little in the mornings with either applesauce or sweet potatoes. I'm excited to gradually expand his taste buds in the next couple months!

Likes to feed himself already. He does this with the bottle too.
Oh my goodness look how big he is getting! Stop it!

Love this kid.

3 Months of Kobeman

There is just so much to say about this little man. I am definitely one of those moms that could go on for days about his cuteness alone. I probably post way too many pictures of him, but I don't believe there's such a thing. I still can't get over how easy and mild this baby is; it's unreal. His smile kills me! He cracks me up sometimes when I'm feeding him and not watching him, I'll feel him stop so I'll look down and he's just staring up at me, smiles, and then gets back to business. I love that I can feel his love for me when he stares and smiles at me. I don't want him to ever grow out of that! He's SO smiley! He's starting to laugh and I have to remind myself that he's not a squeeze toy because I just want to squeeze him every time. I have to remind myself that he's not food ~cute food?~ because I always want to bite his cheeks. I'm pretty sure if the number of kisses have been counted that I alone have given him...um, a calculator would have lost track.
Aside from smiling all the time, Kobe is talking a lot...full sentences. Oh wait. He babbles, oohs, ohs, ows, and has started this silly cough when he gets excited (and sometimes when he's tired/hungry). He loves being naked, or even just in his diaper. He gets so excited and kicks his legs like a madman. He wants things in his mouth. He is starting to grab things, mostly with his thumbs and index fingers. He can kind of get things to his mouth but it's a work in progress. He's good at getting cloth in his mouth but the harder objects are a little more difficult. He's super slobbery. He's starting to give kisses (open-mouthed and slobbery, of course). He sleeps like a champ. We've been starting his bedtime routine: feed on one boob, bath time, feed on the other boob, and he's out...usually around 9pm and he'll sleep until about 5am. I know, how the heck did we get so lucky?! This is all until we start bragging about him and then he'll throw me a curve ball and wake up at like 3am. I just started going back to work; nights and weekends. I haven't been able to pump a lot so I bought some formula to supplement a little. He hates it! So far it has screwed him up on the bottle. Yesterday was my first shift back, and he cried the whole time and wouldn't take the bottle of just breast milk. So frustrating. I guess he'll just have to cry it out until he's starving enough to take a bottle. Somehow I'll pump enough too, I guess.
Kobe got to travel to California...via car. It was a last minute trip. I brought my good friend, Sunnie for sanity (and because I like her). She was awesome, because the 13 hours it takes without a baby took us almost 18 hours, and he screamed the last 6 of those. And she still wanted to hold him. We had a nice, relaxing time. I didn't plan anything. We just hung out in the pool, ate a lot of crap, sat around, and did some shopping. My parents sold there house (they've lived in since 2001), so I had to say goodbye to the house. Mostly just weird.
Lane played in Spokane Hoopfest with his tournament buddies. He's been playing in 3on3 tournaments all over Washington with these guys for a while and they usually place 1st or 2nd. They got 2nd in their division! That's pretty impressive. Hoopfest is a huge event: over 7,000 teams, 456 courts spanning 42 downtown city blocks. It's pretty crazy! We planned for 100degree weather and got poured on the first day, and hit 90s the second day. They played eight games, and won six of those! Good job boys!
Curt and Laurel (Lane's uncle/aunt) built a home up in Lake Roosevelt and invited us up for 4th of July weekend. We had some fun out in the sun, on the boat and wave runners. Kobe hated his life jacket but once the boat was going, he loved sitting there with the wind blowing on his face. Such a weird baby.
So June and July have been some busy travelling months. We have another trip planned with Lane's family at the end of July when Erin and Russell come up for a visit!

Oh yes, and I turned 25.

2 Months of Baby Bliss

Mr. Kobester is 2 months to date. He develops and changes every day. Nay...every minute! Lane and I have so much fun watching him grow. He is just the sweetest baby you'll ever meet; still so mild and happy! He is smiling more than ever and has started his cooing stage which tugs at my heart strings every time. He kills me with his cuteness! I love watching those happy blue eyes smile, his smirks and dimples, his developing giggles, his slobber lips coo and "ohh", his arms flail around and frog-legs kick like he's a little running man. He loves people. He loves life. He loves snuggling. He's going to make every child we have after him seem like a hellion. I can't wait to see what he learns to do in the next couple months...weeks...days...tomorrow. How did I get so lucky and blessed to be a mother; especially Kobe's mother? I can't imagine our lives with out this little angel. You know that frustrating feeling of holding a baby that's crying, wiggling and fussing and only stops when you hand them over to mom? Well that doesn't really happen for people very often with him, but every once in a while that's what happens and I tell you what - it is an amazing feeling to be on the other end as the mother that can be the only one to soothe that baby. (That may change as he gets older, but I love it now!) I'm sure Lane feels the same because he has been on the receiving end as well. Kobe really does love his daddy so much! He lights up when Lane talks to him and smiles at him. When Lane walks away or is talking on the other side of the room, Kobe's eyes follow him. It is SO precious!
At his 2 month checkup today his doctor said he's healthy and looks good. 75th percentile for height (23.5") and 50th percentile for weight (11lbs13oz). He was even smiling and cooing at Dr. Crawford. And then they stabbed him with some needles and he screamed. But it didn't last long! He fell asleep on the way home and then started talking to me when we got home. What a champ!

He loves going to watch Daddy play softball.
He loves bath time!
He loves looking at bright colors.
He loves his cousin, Tate.
He loves his mommy.
Like father, like son.
Like mother, like son.
Kobe had his baby blessing yesterday at church. Lane gave him a beautiful blessing that left me sobbing. Such a spiritual and uplifting moment. The other wonderful men that were able to stand in on it were Popo (Lane's grandpa), Epop (my dad), Papa (Lane's dad), Uncle Blake (Lane's brother), Uncles Phil and Curt (Lane's uncles), Briggs (Lane's cousin), Bishop Buchannan, and Josh Potter (friend). Kobe's blessing followed Tate's baby blessing given by Blake. It was so neat to be able to do them on the same day! Love those babies to pieces! We had a lot of family and friends that were able to come. I am so happy my parents were able to make it last minute. Sunnie and Henry were able to come. We're so blessed with the friends and family we have and all their support.

Happy parents.

ps.
Lane turned the big 30! I had all these fun ideas that involved surprise parties with arranging for his old roommates to come from out of town, sumo wrestling suits, yummy food, sweet and creative presents, etc...and then Kobe was born. And my brain, money and time went elsewhere. So Lane got some bacon-flavored bbq sauce that I found at Ross and a card.
I did throw a last minute surprise get-together nacho party with family and a few of his friends. He likes nachos. And he likes his family and friends. He says he doesn't care about birthdays but I still feel bad that I didn't do much for his 30th. That's a big milestone.

One Month

He's already a month. Partly, it feels like so long ago that my water broke and I went into the hospital feeling like, "Geez, I'm going to be laying here forever...he's never going to come!" And it feels like so long ago that my family was here meeting him. And I feel like I've already spent hours and hours and hours nursing (ya, I know...I have hours and hours and hours to go). But at the same time, that month flew by! Kobe is getting so big! He's not chubbing up so much as turning into a long twig. He feels so long, and his head feels bigger. Lane stepped on the scale with him the other day and without, and the difference was about 9lbs3oz. He's basically grown out of newborn clothes, and fits best in 0-3 months; right on track. However, I don't even bother with pants in any size- one, because we are constantly changing his diapers so what's the point? And two, he fits them length-wise but looks like a little thug because they're so wide on him. He is still just such a happy, relaxed baby. It's almost humorous how he just lays there and stares. He's starting to smile a lot more, and I can see a laugh forming because he's starting to get excited when we talk to him, and also after he gets the boob. His eyes are a beautiful blue and keep getting lighter. He has 3 dimples- two cheek, one chin. We just love him so much, and it's more and more every day. The novelty has not worn off, and I don't think it ever will. It's almost an argument to decide who gets to hold him still. Lane is such an amazing dad. He is the softy though...Whenever Kobe makes a peep, Lane picks him up or checks on him (except for the night shifts when I get him). Whenever Kobe spits up, Lane asks him if he's ok. My thoughts are, "Babies cry. Let him cry it out. Babies spit up. He's fine." Don't worry, I give him plenty of love and nurturing. I'm obsessed with him. I just love that he loves him so much. This is the first year I get to celebrate mother's day and I feel so blessed with such an incredible baby, and a husband who takes care of us both. My Heavenly Father has trusted me to be Kobe's mother and there is no greater, more terrifying feeling. I wouldn't trade being a mom for anything in the world!
