House Update

If you are or want to follow our house blog, I just updated it with some pictures. The inside is 98% put together!

Today we had a Seahawks playoff game party (they WON)! We had a few families over for some Papa Murphy's pizza and yumminess. Twas fun! We love hosting our little parties with this house. I decided I need to start buying some clearance toys for when we have people over to entertain the kids, and when Faith and Tobie come. We have kid shows/movies at least!

Hello 2011, Nice To Meet You

Well tomorrow is the first day of school, quarter two of six in my program. I was looking forward to a break of projects and being with family, however after a hectic week of trying to get EVERYTHING done in the house...I was ready for a relaxing break. I basically only got one full day of a relaxing break, and that was today--the last day. And this only happened because we had the carpet guys here from 7:30am until 5:00pm, so I was forced to sit down and relax. I guess I can't complain too much considering we now have a gorgeous home and have been able to host Christmas dinner and a New Year's Eve party, among a few other game nights with family and friends. I call that a good break!

Yes, we were able to host Christmas dinner. Christmas was on Saturday, and we moved in the Wednesday before. It was a beautiful success though, and we had so much help from friends and family. (Thank you!) Lane woke me up on Christmas morning (5:40am--still dark).
Lane: "Hey Honey, I think Santa came."
Jannica: "mmmph...grumble..."
Lane: "Should we go see?"
Jannica: "No."
I got up anyway. Lane and I decided not to do gifts this year since, hello, we bought each other a house and all its contents. I felt like I splurged because I decided to buy him Def Jam Rap Star, a rapping game (karaoke-style) that he's been talking about. I bought it with some of my tip money, and that's all I was going to do. Well, I guess word (not mine) got around that I was concerned about not having any presents to open on Christmas day, so I walked into the living room to a couple large boxes and many little ones. He bought me a 47" Vizio, a headboard to match our bedframe, and lots of candy/chapstick/movies/firelogs/carwash coupons. Needless to say, he spoiled me. I wonder if he feels he needs to make up for my birthday when we were first married (refer to one of my very first posts). Pretty sure he's done overly well since then!
We had 20 people all together for a ham dinner. It was delicious and as always, a wonderful time spent with family. Although it is hard for me to live so far away from my family, I feel so blessed to live near such amazing in-laws that love and support us.

New Year's Eve we had Erin & Russell, Brady & Leah, Tim & Vicki, and Blake & Kim and kids over to eat pizza and junk, and play some games. The parents left early, and the rest made it til...........11:40pm! Seriously? We couldn't last twenty more minutes?? Lane and I at least had our kiss at midnight and then fell asleep. I guess I will list a few of my goals for the new year, which aren't so original or new, but they are still my goals:
*Eat healthier/cut back on soda
*Actually use our home gym
*Read the Book of Mormon
*Read/Pray daily
*Find ways to serve others more
*DON'T procrastinate!!!
*Be a nicer person/smile more (everyone always bugs me about not smiling enough)
So there you have it. Let's see how well I do! I'm off to a bad start already. eeek

Delay

Well things have been pushed back as far as moving in goes, but that's okay. Lane has been working, I've been packing and working, as well as getting sick. We lacked energy today (the moving day) and not all our plumbing/appliances are hooked up. Carpet downstairs is now pushed to January 3rd (not so happy about that). Blake has been working on our counters but poor Kim had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night for her Gall Bladder. So we won't be pushing him to finish so he can take care of her. Carpet is in upstairs though and it smells wonderful! Our new goal is Wednesday, which can happen and we will still be able to host our Christmas dinner. Those Larsons/Heltons/Lakes will just have to excuse our mess.

Stuff and Stuff

I am the QUEEN of procrastination; believe me, it's bad. It's not that I don't care about what I do, but if you give me a due date or a deadline, I will push it to the very last possible minute (except for being ontime to things...I always have to be ontime or early to places). I have set so many goals all my life to not procrastinate. I bring on my own stress. Somehow though, I pulled off these grades (and yes I will brag). I am one quarter down, and five to go until I am done with the elementary education program!
Class           Description                 Units    Grade            Points

EDBL 312 Found in Bilingual Ed     3.00 Graded A          12.000

EDCS 316 Educational Technology 3.00 Graded A           12.000

EDF 301    Teaching: An Orientation 3.00 Graded A         12.000

EDSE 302 Intro Student Exceptionalities 4.00 Graded B    12.000

PSY 314     Hmn Dev & Learner 4.00         Graded A        16.000

Anyway, I am soooo over painting! We sprayed the upstairs, I did some touch ups, and then I rolled the whole downstairs. Ugh. I did have a little help in a couple rooms which I greatly appreciate! My hands/wrists are weak lil' things and are not meant to roll 1300sq ft (I could never cut hair for a living). I have pinched nerves up and down my arm. The painting is almost done (just a couple walls to finish and some edges to touch up), now packing/unpacking are my projects--all to be ready to host Christmas dinner! yikes

Well I haven't really had much time with the hubs lately. Our time together is spent in separate rooms working on projects, or driving to and from Home Depot/Lowes. We are due for a date. I'm sure a day and night of lounging around watching a movie would be perfect right now. Lane had a tiny break Saturday night, but other than that he has spent every minute awake working. He's a busy busy boy, but he has been able to make money still (grateful) and he has become pretty handy from learning how to remodel a house. I appreciate all his hard work, especially when we are sitting in our new home in a couple weeks, admiring how beautiful we have made it.

Finals

Finals are here. I'm done with 2 classes; 3 more to go! For two of my classes (same teacher) we are supposed to put together some type of portfolio that shows what we've learned--basically.
...And I have decided that I spend entirely too much time on making my projects look "cute" rather than what information is contained in the projects.

Larson Family Pictures

Erin & Russell were able to come home over Veteran's day, so we decided to take some family pictures. We had the perfect settings with beautiful fall colors (which are now covered in white). Here are a few!

Thanksgiving 2010 in Cal-if-for-ni-a

Lane and I drove down to Rocklin, CA on Wednesday to see my family (took 15 hours going about 10 under on icy roads 3/4 of the way there). Britt and her boyfriend Mike were able to come! My mom's sister Kandy & Terry, their daughter Becky & Brad and their new baby girl, Libby, as well as my mom's brother Randy & Cheryl were all able to come as well! Full house! Thanksgiving day was very relaxing. We just lounged around all day, played some Minute to Win it games, ate our delicious meal that my mom did a WONDERFUL job on! Alona (my mom's best friend) and her boys came over for some dessert and we played a game of Catch Phrase. It was so nice to just hang out with the fam!

On Friday we headed to San Francisco for some fun. We walked around Pier 39, stopped for some Clam Chowder on the pier, rode the cable car up to Union Square to look around at some shops and the crazies, rode the cable car back down to Fisherman's Wharf and walked around Ghirardelli Square, ate at a pizza place and headed home!

Saturday Lane and I did some shopping at the Folsom Outlets, I had my IN'N'OUT with my brosephs, we all went to see the new Harry Potter, and then we went to the Kings/Bulls game! We were able to meet up with our friends/Lane's old roommate Doug & Cate.
And Sunday we just left super early and got home super late. I hopped right back into school. ugh.
It was a wonderful break, and a quick jump back in to reality. I have been so stressed with school and have had no time to work on the house. Good news is, school ends in a week and one day! I can't believe it! The end is only slightly in sight because of how much work I have to do, but I can't wait to move on!
I have been dying to decorate for Christmas! There's not really any point in getting out all my decorations since I will just have to pack them up and move them in a couple weeks. So that's my incentive to finish the house...or one of them at least! haha
