6 Months of Our Chubby Monkey

We have the happiest baby on planet Earth. It's true. And on top of that, the cutest. Where the heck did he even come from?! I can't believe it's been 6 months since this sweet boy came into our lives. He's growing up too fast. He weighs 18lbs 4oz and is 27.25" long, which is apparently average. He is getting so chunky and I am obsessed with every single one of those rolls!
Kobe has found his tongue and it is stinkin' adorable. He just started sticking it out one day and hasn't stopped. He is learning to imitate too--so far with the tongue, the sound "bah", and putting your hand up like a high-five. I can't wait to hear his vocabulary develop and watch what he learns these next couple months.
So the other day I sent this picture of Kobe to my friend Laurel and a half hour later received this picture of her with the caption, "Just as cute." I just about died laughing! It kind of reminded me of something my dad would do and I imagine her thought being, "Oh, Ranzy has a onesie, I need to put it on and reenact this. It will be hilarious!" Yes, yes it was.
Laurel and Ranzy have been my babysitters lately when Lane is either out of town or won't make it home in time for me to go to work. The other night I came home and the lights were all on upstairs, TV on loud, and Laurel's phone on the counter. Kobe was not in his bed. I knew they were being dorks and hiding somewhere so I just changed and took my time. Then I finally went downstairs and the three of them were hiding behind the guest bed with the lights off. I said, "Why isn't Kobe in his bed?" and they started laughing and said, "He's not tired." Enough said. :)  This is also what they did while I was at work.
Kobe is quite the wiggler. He officially needs to be strapped in.
Ranzy likes to try his Jordans on him that she and Jacqueline bought for him before he was born. They're supposed to fit when he's like 1 and a half.
He's a very independent little man.
Loves giving some wet kisses. Loves his Granny Ella!
Ranzy and Laurel make our trips to the store entertaining. Kobe was fascinated with this balloon Ranzy strapped to the cart.
My parents had this huge jack-o-lantern that is so so bright when we were growing up! My dad would put it up every year, basically for the whole month of October. The thing was, it would hang in one of the kids' windows and light up our whole room. We would get so annoyed! When it came time for us all to move out, I think we all secretly wanted the thing. Kobe and Reagan received their very own from Oma and Epop!
I just love how chubby Kobe looks in this picture, because Tate is usually the one that looks chubby.
Kobe has been playing by himself on the floor for like 30-45min at a time, just talking and rolling and grabbing. He has fallen asleep like this a couple times and it just makes me melt.
Look. at. that. face.
Kobe sure loves his mama, but OH MY, he is obsessed with his daddy! Example scenario: the other morning Kobe and I were just laying in bed, snuggling and playing. Lane came home from a meeting. Our bedroom door was shut but Kobe heard the front door shut. He stiffened his little body and stared at our bedroom door, waiting for Lane to come in and then he started doing his excited puppy drill. He starts to wiggle and pant and smile. GAH! That is the best. He does that in the morning too when you get him out of his crib.
I'm seriously obsessed. He is beyond cute.
So in April or May I heard Maroon 5 was coming to the Gorge (about an hour away from Wenatchee) and I really wanted to go but I was nervous at the time to leave Kobe. In June, Lane said I could go for my birthday and I was so excited! I got Sunnie on board to go, and my friends Ranzy, Jacqueline, Laurel and Angelica all got tickets and we talked about it all the time! Finally the day came and Ranzy had everyone over to get ready and hang out before the concert. The weather was a little crappy so we brought a bunch of blankets and layers. Kelly Clarkson was opening up for them. Concert was supposed to start at 7. 8:30, no Kelly yet. Windy. Starts to drizzle (barely). We buy some overpriced food. Eat. Wait. Get up to go to the bathroom and it starts to sprinkle a little harder. As we're walking back we start saying, "I'd be so pissed if they cancelled." People are walking towards the exit with their belongings. We're thinking, "no way!" So we start walking faster back to our spot and, with no official announcement, hear that it was being cancelled! We start walking out, still questioning whether or not they were actually cancelling. We got to our cars; super disappointed. We sat in dead stop traffic trying to get out for almost 2 hours. Actually, the only reason we got out when we did was because my good friend, Ranzy was a little on the drunk side and got out of the car, and started setting screens for us. One car actually bumped into her (haha!) and she got some not-so-nice things shouted at her. Anyway, I am still really disappointed and am hesitant to ever spend money on a concert again. I got my money back at least.
Kobe isn't the only baby that is getting cuter every day apparently. Look at Reagan. I can't wait to see her in a couple weeks!! Cutest cousins alive.
Lane's grandpa has been in the hospital for a couple weeks. He just has been wanting to sleep all day, has no energy, hard to breathe, hard so see or hear. He asked to be taken to the hospital. It was sad to watch this sweet man giving up. He has been doing some rehab physical therapy and is looking a lot better now though. I love watching him. He is quiet and when he does talk he loves talking about sports, asking about his grand and great grand kids or telling stories. Lane definitely has a special bond with him. I don't have much to say but I like to sit and watch him. He reminds me of my grandpa. We took Kobe to see him a couple times. He likes to grab so he was trying to grab his tubes the whole time. These sure are some precious moments.
On a side note, 6 months ago I gave birth. When we were leaving the hospital the other day we were talking about how that day 6 months ago when we left the hospital, it was weird seeing that people were still going about their days while we were in the hospital-- as if we expected everyone to stop what they were doing when I had a baby. It was an odd feeling as we drove home with our little one. It's been bliss ever since. I can't imagine our lives without him.

5 Months of Our Lil' Buddy

I just don't understand how a human being could be so cute. I'm completely obsessed with Kobe. The phrase, "He's so freakin' cute!" is repeated daily in our home. Like, really...how?!

Anyway, Kobe is so much fun. I say it all the time but he makes me nervous for our second child because you can't get more perfect than him. He is such a people-person, and rightfully so, because he has many admirers! He's just so happy-- it definitely rubs off on us. He's getting so big and cuter with every pound and mm! I love watching him figure things out. He has started reaching and grabbing (and bringing to his mouth, of course). But oh my, when he reaches for our faces and brings us to his little drooly mouth...I can't handle it! And he is making the cutest noises in the world. He has quite the vocabulary these days. He does well playing by himself as long as he has his reflection/some objects to reach for and chew on, but he is starting to need our attention more consistently. When Daddy has him at night he has been carrying him around in the Ergo so that Kobe is satisfied. He is such a morning person too. He just lays there talking to himself, and when you go in to get him he starts kicking his legs and arms and panting and smiling (still a baby; not a dog). How can you not just melt?! He just talks and laughs all morning. I love it! He has been rolling over more, both from his tummy to back and back to tummy. He is very wiggly. He's not completely mobile, but the next couple months we will need to baby proof because I can see his determination!

His cousin, Tate is growing with him. Kobe's growing up and Tate's growing out. We love watching them together; especially now that they're beginning to recognize people. They look at each other and take turns making noises and rolling over. It's true love.
I haven't been a fan of overalls since I was like 12...but Kobe makes me a fan.
He loves looking at himself. I turn the camera on my phone to face him and he just starts talking to himself. And I photobomb.
Lane cracks me up when he mimics Kobe. It's pretty entertaining watching a 6'4" man make movements like a baby.
When Popo is feeling well he says, "Hand him here," holds him for a couple minutes and gives him kisses, then tries to hand him off and says, "mom better take him." He loves his great grandbabies!

I don't know why but I have an obsession with babies' eyelashes when they're wet (after a bath, for example). Pictures don't do it justice. Especially Kobe's eyes with those long lashes and "crystals" he places in his eyes (as Nana says).
Kobe spends a lot of time with the girls (mom and her friends). This is Lana. She's 8 months older than Kobe and she is just the cutest little thing too. These two together = too much cuteness to handle. **Just wait until Kobe gets with his cousin Reagan!**
Grandpa Lyle is quite the fan of Kobe too. He says, "I've never seen a baby so alert and happy," and "He's a smart boy, he is. He's got it all figured out." Grandpa's right!
We have swaddled him ever since he was a newborn when we put him to bed. He doesn't always keep his hands in, but he's been one of those babies that sleeps well in a swaddle so we continue to do it. Just in the past few days he has become Houdini and wiggled his way completely out and across his crib. I'm now thinking I need to find a new word for "cute" because it's becoming redundant.
We got this fresh food mesh feeder that you can put fruits and vegetables (and whatever else you want) in to introduce solids. The baby just sucks the juices out. He loves it! Well, he loves chewing and sucking and it's just another thing to put in his mouth, but it has flavors. He has tried peaches, strawberries, pears and apples in it. So far he loves them all and no allergies!
This is our friend, Laurel. She formed a quick bond with the kid (and me) and spends lots of time with us. She's kind of my baby-whisperer, I decided.

This is our friend, Ranzy. She has been a fan of Kobe, and called him by name since we knew he was a boy. We call her Aunt Ranzy and she also spends a lot of time with us. He loves to snuggle with her...and watch our dumb shows with us!
Kobe loves watching Daddy around the house. He just stares and is so mesmerized and it cracks me up.
We don't take many family pictures, so this is what you get.
These two make me laugh. Pretty much every picture we have of them together, Tate is crying or looking off somewhere else and Kobe is either smiling or has his mischievious grin. This picture I think is foreshadowing their future growing up together.
He likes to attack faces and I consider them kisses. I love them. Lane always makes comments about me wiping his slobbery kisses off, but guess what, I wipe Kobe's off too!
Just getting too big.
This is how close he is to sitting up by himself. He lasts about 7 seconds.
Kobe and I get to go visit my family in So.Cal next month! I'm so excited because Uncle Devin hasn't met him yet; and he gets to meet some of my aunts, uncles and cousins, and play with his cousin Reagan and Aunt Britt, Oma and hopefully Epop and Uncle Trevor! We can't wait!

In other news, we have been working hard on our yard and finishing up summer house projects. Lane has been working especially hard and put up our first fence!

4 Months of KobeWobe

Can I just say that Kobe is perfect? I sure can. And I always do. I'm so in love with this kid. I have just minutes when I feel I need a break but then he smiles and I melt. Or when I am at work, I just crave that smile and kissing those cheeks! I am not a morning person but it sure does make my mornings pleasant seeing that little face.

Mr. Kobe is 15lbs (50th percentile) and 25.5" (75th percentile). He is growing and changing every day. He is following all the rules for a 4 month old: drooling, grabbing, bringing everything to his mouth, giggling, attempting to roll over, adding more sounds to his vocabulary, eating more, sleeping longer, and just being cute! We love having him in our home. He brings so much love and entertainment to our little family. He sure does love his daddy. Lane has been spending some one-on-one time with little man while I'm at work at nights. They've become buddies. Kobe takes the bottle really well, and we started him on a little bit of cereal; which he eats like a champ. So far he has eaten one little cup of sweet potatoes, and applesauce. Books say 4-6 months start in on cereal. We only started because I'm off and on with how much milk I produce, and going back to work I was stressing about getting enough for him since he wouldn't eat supplemented formula. He just has a little bit of cereal before bed along with his milk meal, and this past week I gave him a little in the mornings with either applesauce or sweet potatoes. I'm excited to gradually expand his taste buds in the next couple months!
