Juussst an update

Even though he's graduated, Lane plays for the BRUINS competitive basketball up at the school. His team really isn't the best, and his coaches aren't so good at coaching, but everyone enjoys going to the games. Lane's always on the starting line-up. He's still really good and the crowd goes wild when he hits his 3's. He enjoys playing, and I love watching him, It's a lot of fun :)
Other than that, I'm still just working at Millhollow full-time. We are still obsessed with Settlers of Catan. We have a few couples that we play with (Mandi & Kenny, Doug & Cate, Tyler & Kelly). We have a lot of shows that we're pretty into as well:
-Price is Right (every morning) *One day we will be on the show!*
-The Office
-America's Best Dance Crew
-American Idol
-Man vs. Food
-Man vs. Wild
-Real World
-HGTV
-Seinfeld (re-runs)
-Dirty Jobs
(And OF COURSE Lane will always love Sportscenter)

On the plus side... The Sun has been out a lot and it is glorious!

The Day of Love

2/14 One year ago...Lane and I were doing long distance, he was in Utah and I was in Cali. So I went to work all day and came home and showered and put on my pjs because I had nothing to do. My whole family was going out for the night so I just took my place on the couch. Lane told me that he was going to Rexburg for the weekend. He also told me that he didn't have much battery on his phone, and when it was reaching around 9 and 10 I was getting worried and calling him and it was going straight to his voicemail. I was getting pretty upset. A little after 10pm I got a call from my dad telling me they were at the temple and their car battery was dead and asked me to come jump it for them. (It seemed plausable because they go park at the temple on dates sometimes). So I hurried and grabbed the cables and drove really fast up to the temple (about 25min). The whole way thinking "Maybe, just maybe Lane is suprising me and he'll be there", but also turning the idea down because there was NO way. (I popped a piece of gum in my mouth--just in case). I pulled up to the gate for the driveway and their car was parked in front of it and there was a tall man standing on his phone off to the side. I pulled up closer and my heart started racing (still there was no way). Then the man walked over to the back door of my parents car and I got out and walked up. He turned around...and it was LANE! I had a huge confused smile on my face and my heart was still racing when he gave me a big hug and kiss, and he felt my heart going crazy. I just stared at him in such shock. Then my parents pulled out and my mom said "Bye! have fun!" Lane put a bag in my car and had me drive up through the gate and pull by the bathrooms. We got out and hugged and stuff and he pulled out the bag that had a dress in it. He told me to go put it on, and he had my mom bring some heels and a coat. So I quickly put them on (my hair was a mess, no makeup, freezing, not shaven) and we went up to the temple and started walking. We made it about a quarter of the way around and he stopped and hugged me and then got on his knee and said he was finally making it official, "Jannica, will you marry me?" ....So I of course said yes and he got up and hugged me and put the HUGE ring on my finger. I was still in shock. My eyes teared up a little...but we were just so happy! The temple was actually closed for cleaning for 2 weeks, and Lane had set up with the temple president to come unlock the gates so we could walk around and have it happen. I couldn't believe my parents knew for a couple months and kept it a complete secret from me! I thought he was coming two weeks later...He's a little sneak.

2/14/09...When it hit 12am Lane gave me a hug and told me happy valentine's day and I went in our room and found this on our bed...

I had been wanting the orange Ralph Lauren perfume and he made it sound like he was going to get it for me, and then earlier in the week said that we had no money and asked me not to spend any. So I found this dollar tree version of the ralph lauren perfume. I thought it was pretty funny...and he was telling me how it was the one the smelled the best and actually didn't smell too bad. So we went to bed and when I woke up again on V-day, I went out and there was this on the kitchen table

It smells amazing just so you know. I have the red one from last Valentine's day. So we just spent the morning together, and watched a movie online. My parents sent us a card with Olive Garden gift cards (they're so sweet), so we made a trip to Idaho Falls (there's nothing in Rexburg) and we went to Winco and then went to lunch! They burnt our meals so our waiter came out and told us that he didn't want to bring it out and apologized for the wait and they offered us some free dessert! So we had a completely free, delicious meal!So we came home, and we watched the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and Dusty came over too to watch a little of it of course. I was ok with it tho, and I decorated our room for Lane's present during part of it. The hearts on the wall have sayings on them like candy sweethearts. and I got him kisses and some lotion and stuff...I got all "sexy" and gave him a nice candle-lit massage.

I'm not usually a fan of the ol' day but I have had two amazing Valentine's days the past two years with the man of my dreams. I love Lane!

Burrrrrr....

I am so ready for winter to be over. It hasn't been the worst of Rexburg, but I'm tired of walking slow like a penguin, trying not to slip and die, and I'm ready to drive normal and not have ice EVERYWHERE. I'm ready to bask in the SUN! This looks soooo appetizing.

** -20 degrees is not healthy living I dont' think...not for Jannica at least.

January--not much.

Our life isn't too exciting right now. Lane is trying to switch jobs right now. Selling insurance just isn't so easy with the economy and college students really--nobody wants to invest in anything. But he has a degree in finance and has good work experience so he's doing well in his interviews. I'm just working at Millhollow full-time. It's nice to get 50% off our meals and treats there.
Other than that we haven't really been doing anything. Lane has been doing a lot of house cleaning and laundry and been really sweet. Last Saturday I pulled a double shift (13 hours) and he stayed up til I got home. Not only did he stay up tho, he had a nice hot bubble bath with candles lit and gave me a nice massage. He's been cooking as well, which is normal but he has just been the most amazing husband ever. I love him so so so much!
Dusty has been hanging out with him while I work. And he hangs out with us, goes on dates with us....I'm cool with it. haha. Dusty is Lanes friend from high school, and he hung out with us when we were dating too. He's a good guy. The other night us 3 went to Big Jud's. It was my first time, and it was DELICIOUS. The burgers are a pound and have the huge bun, we all split it. Lane has eaten the whole thing and fries before. crazy.

Mandi and Kenny have also been coming over a lot to play Settlers of Catan, a game that we became obsessed with in the past few months. We got them hooked now. Mandi is my roommate from my first semester here...and Kenny is her husband. It's been fun just to hang out. We watch The Office. We watch a lot of MTV because it's entertaining.

Lane found this website on our friends' blog where you can upload a picture of him and me and it mutates them into what our baby will look like. He looks kind of silly, but maybe our kid will look something like this! haha. All of my friends are preggo or either trying and I'm a little jealous, but not enough. We're still waiting, even though we get a little baby-crazy sometimes. We had a good share of birth control for a while though after being around kids over the holidays.

Well that's pretty much it for now. I'll update again when we figure our what's going on with jobs and what not.

Christmas 2008-New Year 2009

Before we went to Wenatchee, we had Lane's work Christmas party in Boise. It was an ugly sweater party, so this is why we are ridiculously dressed. Basically everyone was drunk, so I of course felt awkward. It was pretty entertaining though. We got to go see Faith do her "Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer" dance recital. She was adorable as usual...AND she was basically the only on who knew the dance. And we got to hear her sing it for the rest of the 3 weeks that we were in Wenatchee

Christmas morning we woke up at 7am and opened presents. Blake, Kim, Faith and Tobie came over to open more at 9. We went over to Curt and Laurel's for our Christmas lunch/dinner and hung out there playing games and stuff. It was a good Christmas day. I felt spoiled. Lane got me some clothes, a pair of shoes, a cd, a few movies, the 4 Twilight books, some belts. We got some games, a hymn book with our name on it, money, razors and such. I got Lane some new basketball shoes, some shirts, a shirt and tie, slippers, itunes card.

The rest of the time we were there we just hung out with everyone, shopped...Lane and I tried to go see one of his friend's bands play at a bar, however, I was too young and got carded right when we sat down. Soooo I got kicked out of a bar! haha. 6 months shy. We went sledding. We saw a couple movies and went bowling. New Year's Eve we Lane and I just went over to Blake and Kim's and played games until midnight. Kim's sister, Janet, was there. Faith made it til midnight. Then we went home basically right at 12. It was fun, nothing too eccentric. Our last night there, we went to the Wenatchee Wild, hockey game. That was a lot of fun. I enjoy going to sporting events, it's just different live. 2 fights broke out, which was pretty entertaining.

I am truly blessed to have such great in-laws. They have made me feel welcome from the first time I met them, and they have taken care of me and spoiled me and loved me ever since. Lane treats me so well, and I can see where he gets it. He is definitely his own person, but he shows a great example of compassion, kindness and affection towards me. I love my family. I was sad to not be with them for Christmas, but at least I was with people who love me. I am excited to start this new year and move forward. =========Happy New Year==========2009
